Municipal guards from the Environmental Defense Group (GDA) rescued a hedgehog on Friday (20/6) in Riocentro, in the city's West Zone, during the Book Biennial. The animal was in the High Voltage Zone and could cause an incident at the event, depending on where it fell, in addition to the risks to itself.
The GDA guards were supporting the Municipal Guard's operation for the Biennial and were called by the Riocentro security coordinator. After the rescue, the animal was safely taken to the Marapendi Municipal Park, in the West Zone.
GM-Rio and Seop operation for the Biennial
The Public Order Secretariat (Seop) and the Rio Municipal Guard are working with 40 agents to support the Book Biennial until June 22. Urban and traffic management actions will continue until the end of the event and the public has left.
The officers are strategically positioned at all entrances to the Riocentro pavilions to assist the public and also to prevent disorder and petty crimes. In traffic, the officers focus on fluidity and mobility, including helping pedestrians who will use public transportation to get to the location cross the road. The officers will also have the support of vehicles for emergency situations and support for the officers.
The operation also includes BRT Seguro agents based at the Olof Palme, Rio Centro and Morro do Outeiro stations, in addition to inspectors from the Taxi Superintendence who inspect the internal pocket and monitor the area surrounding the event.
