- Santa Claus from the Municipal Guard brings joy to students at a school on Ilha do Governador.
Marlon, commander of the 8th Inspectorate (Tijuca), has been working as Santa Claus for 25 years - Press Release The Rio Municipal Guard's Santa Claus, played by sub-inspector Marlon Cezar, visited the Rotary Club Municipal School on Ilha do Governador this Thursday (December 11th). The event included the distribution of gifts to the children. The school serves students with special needs.
Marlon, commander of the 8th Inspectorate (Tijuca), has been acting as Santa Claus for 25 years, ever since he was invited to replace the "good old man" at a school event on Paquetá Island. Since then, he has carried out Christmas activities in various locations, such as municipal hospitals and schools, with the support of colleagues who help in collecting gifts.
The only year without a visit from Santa Claus was 2020, due to the pandemic. The following year, still under restrictive rules, the event took place without Santa's costume, but the character returned in full force soon after.
"What inspires and motivates me throughout this period is the love and joy that surrounds the children and Santa Claus. I hope to be able to do this for many more years and bring a little love and hope to the children and also to the entire population. After all, it's time to renew our strength and our hopes and help build a better world," said Sub-Inspector Marlon.
