Rio in Order Project seizes 78 cones that were guarding public parking spaces.

The South Zone Subprefecture seized 78 cones that were illegally blocking public parking spaces in the neighborhoods of Botafogo, Flamengo, and Catete, during an urban order operation carried out this Saturday (August 1st). The action was conducted by the Rio em Ordem Project, in partnership with the Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP) and the Municipal Guard, to combat the reservation of parking spaces on public roads, which constitutes irregular occupation of public space. In addition to being illegal, this conduct is frequently accompanied by the improper charging of drivers who park their vehicles in the area.

The teams patrolled various streets to remove the obstacles. Among the locations inspected were Sorocaba, Dona Mariana, Dezenove de Fevereiro, Bambina and General Polidoro streets in Botafogo, as well as Machado de Assis, Buarque de Macedo, Ferreira Viana and Rua do Catete streets in the Flamengo and Catete neighborhoods.

"Our commitment goes beyond removing obstacles from public roads. We want to strengthen awareness about the proper use of public spaces, ensuring that streets are used regularly, democratically, and for the benefit of the entire population. Enforcement actions will continue in a regular, democratic manner, and for the benefit of the entire population," highlighted the sub-mayor of the South Zone, Pedro Angelito.

"Rio in Order" is an initiative of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, implemented by the South Zone Subprefecture in partnership with SEOP and the Municipal Guard. The project allocates a contingent of municipal guards to address urban order demands along the coastline and main thoroughfares of the South Zone.

The Rio em Ordem (Rio in Order) inspection actions are permanent and will continue in the coming days with the aim of promoting greater organization and urban quality in the region.
