Luz Maravilha modernizes Nossa Senhora da Presentação church, the oldest in the city

This week, Luz Maravilha reached important milestones in its schedule. In addition to modernizing the oldest church in the city, Our Lady of Presentation, in Irajá, the program continued a series of interventions on two important roads in the North Zone: Boulevard Vinte e Oito de Setembro, in Vila Isabel, and Avenida Maracanã, in Tijuca.

 

A historical relic from 1613, the Church of Our Lady of Presentation had its old lights replaced with LEDs, 16 in the internal courtyard and 25 in the surrounding streets. The interventions included the recovery of the electrical circuits of the entire network of the religious complex and the non-LED lights on the façade, preserving the original structure.

 

– Society, in many ways, is in the shadows. And when what is around us is illuminated, we are able to have a perspective of beauty and see what our reality is. People feel a sense of joy and care – says Bruno Citelli, parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of Presentation.

 

Greater Tijuca more illuminated

 

The new phase of Luz Maravilha on Boulevard Vinte e Oito de Setembro, which began last Saturday, includes the modernization of 156 high-power LED lamps, this time on tall poles. So far, the Vila Isabel neighborhood, which is in the final phase of work, has already had 1.672 lamps installed.

In Tijuca, Maracanã Avenue had 159 light points replaced, in interventions that began last Thursday (25/11). In total, one thousand points will be modernized along the road.

 

– It is always gratifying to see Luz Maravilha arrive on major roads. Boulevard Vinte e Oito de Setembro and Avenida Maracanã were no different. The Greater Tijuca region is gaining more life with the new lighting – says Pierre Batista, president of Rioluz.
