Two more neighborhoods in the West Zone receive improvements from City Hall programs

Rio City Hall announced on Wednesday (October 06) the arrival of the Bairro Maravilha and Luz Maravilha programs to two more neighborhoods in the West Zone. Mayor Eduardo Paes and representatives from several municipal agencies closely reviewed the requests made by residents of Campo Grande and Santíssimo, and announced the improvements for each region.

 

– I am authorizing the Infrastructure Department to carry out the work. But first I would like to make one clarification: the work will not start tomorrow. A bidding process will still be held to select the company that will be responsible for the work. Next year, you will be able to ride your bike, skateboard and roller skate here because everything will be paved, urbanized, with drainage and sewage, in addition to new lighting with LED lamps – said the mayor, alongside the municipal Infrastructure Secretary, Jorge Arraes and the Environment Secretary, Eduardo Cavaliere.

 

The Bairro Maravilha program aims to restore areas of the city with little infrastructure. The benefited areas have paved roads, new lighting, rebuilt sidewalks and drainage services. In total, 17 streets in the Loteamento Rio-São Paulo neighborhood in Campo Grande and Morada do Quafá in Santíssimo will be serviced, an area of ​​over 27 m².

The Luz Maravilha program, made possible through a public-private partnership, is an initiative by the City Hall to modernize and make the entire public lighting system in Rio efficient. To date, more than 130 LED lamps illuminate the city's streets.

After leaving the West Zone, the mayor went to Vigário Geral, in the North Zone, where he listened to the community's demands. One of the residents' main requests was the revitalization of Catolé do Rocha Square, which received Paes' approval to be carried out.
