Rio City Hall inaugurated important infrastructure projects in the city's North Zone this Saturday (October 07). The projects were delivered in Ramos and Méier. Also this Saturday, slope containment services began on Ilha do Governador in Tauá.

In Ramos, the first streets to be revitalized by the Maravilha neighborhood were inaugurated. Five public spaces in the neighborhood were renovated with the installation of storm drains, a drinking water system, and a sewage system. In addition to increasing the drainage capacity of the streets, the interventions included paving services and the construction of sidewalks to improve mobility. The project by the Municipal Infrastructure Department for the region will include 11 more streets by the end of the works. The City Hall is investing around R$19 million.

Also in Ramos, the renovation works of Iapetec Ramos were delivered, carried out through the Conjunto Maravilha program, of the Municipal Urbanization Company (Rio-Urbe). The 42 buildings of the residential complex received plastering and painting services on the walls, railings and gates. The roofs and gutters of the 85 apartment blocks were waterproofed and painted. In addition, the structure of the pillars and canopies of the unit was restored.

The multi-sports court at Praça Camaçari, located around the housing complex, was also renovated. Both the floor and its markings were repainted. The fence was replaced and a covering screen was installed. Rio-Urbe installed new sports equipment, such as exercise equipment, and toys for children. New street furniture was installed and the existing furniture in the square was restored. The total cost to the city's coffers was just over R$9 million.

Aristides Caire Street receives new drainage

In Méier, the drainage project on Aristides Caire Street was inaugurated. The intervention restored the underground gallery of the Salgado River. 395 meters of a new concrete drainage network were installed, replacing the old one, in addition to 3.600 square meters of paving and more than 3 square meters of sidewalk.

Aristides Caire Street is a collector road that provides an important connection between the Cachambi and Méier neighborhoods, in addition to being the main access route to the Castro Alves Viaduct. The street was completely reopened to vehicle traffic this Saturday.

– An old gallery was causing sinkholes and holes in the street. Rio-Águas took action by replacing the entire network with large concrete pieces to ensure the flow of the river and meet the needs of residents and drivers who use this road – explained the president of the Rio-Águas Foundation, Wanderson Santos.

Containment work begins on Governador Island

On Governador Island, the Geo-Rio Foundation has begun work to contain the Rua Menino Jesus de Praga, in Tauá. A 55-meter impact wall will be built on the site. The multi-sports court in the area, which is closed due to the risk of falling rock blocks, will be rebuilt, away from the rock. Investments are estimated at around R$1,5 million, and the deadline for completion of the work is the first half of 2024.
