City Hall begins revitalization works at the Rio da Prata Gastronomic Center in Campo Grande.

Image of what the entrance to the gastronomic hub will look like - Reproduction The Rio de Janeiro City Hall announced this Saturday (June 4th) the start of the revitalization works at Largo do Rio da Prata, in Campo Grande, in the West Zone. The interventions will begin next Monday (June 8th) and aim to requalify the space along Estrada do Cabuçu, creating leisure and social areas, as well as strengthening the region's gastronomic hub and boosting the local economy.
The project is being carried out by the Municipal Urbanization Company (Rio-Urbe), linked to the Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat, which is responsible for executing the works. The investment is R$ 6,6 million.
"This project has moved forward, it has been tendered, and now we are in a position to begin construction on the Rio da Prata Gastronomic Hub. We are committed to continuing to provide accountability, returning, explaining, and presenting the results to the public. And we continue working to invest even more," said the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere.
Next, he highlighted the region's potential for tourism.
– The Rio da Prata is increasingly establishing itself as a tourist destination in our city. This project will strengthen the gastronomic hub, create leisure and social areas, and boost the local economy, which is already very strong.
The project includes the installation of new sidewalks with interlocking paving stones, concrete, and sections in granite, as well as the construction of curbs and gutters, also in granite. The roadways will receive new asphalt pavement, and the area will also feature raised crosswalks, reinforcing road safety and prioritizing pedestrians.
Among the new urban elements planned are reinforced concrete benches, bollards, a metal bicycle rack, stretching equipment, and a reinforced concrete portico with corten steel, which will mark the entrance to the gastronomic hub.
The area will also receive landscaping treatment, with the planting of tree saplings and ground cover, in addition to the implementation of green barriers. To enhance local tourism, an interactive map and directional signs will be installed, reinforcing the region's potential for ecotourism.
The intervention also includes the renovation of the bandstand and the ornamental fountain of the Rio da Prata, properties listed by the City Hall since 1996 for being important landmarks of the local landscape. The project also includes vertical and horizontal signage. In total, more than 12,3 square meters of public area will be revitalized.
