Luz Maravilha Program reaches four locations in the West Zone

The Luz Maravilha program arrived this Thursday (February 11) in four locations in the West Zone: Muzema, Jardim Clarice, Camorim and Curicica. These areas were chosen based on a cross-referencing of technical, public safety and Human Development Index (HDI) data. The Infrastructure Department and Rioluz created a schedule that foresees the installation of 02 thousand new LED lighting points in the city by March 45.

The Public-Private Partnership signed by the City Hall aims to modernize the city's entire public lighting system by 2022, with 450 LED lighting points. The change will result in savings of up to 60% in public bills.

– Rio is once again becoming the Marvelous City, now lit up with Luz Maravilha. It’s great to start this program in places where the population is most in need – celebrated the Secretary of Infrastructure, Katia Souza, when activating the new lighting in Jardim Clarice.

Rioluz currently has approximately 60 poles, almost all of them made of metal or concrete, which is equivalent to 15% of the city's total. Luz Maravilha plans to replace 35 of them with a fiber model, following technical criteria that assess the condition of the equipment. The metal poles that are not replaced will be painted with electrical insulating paint, as will the fallen and colonial poles.

 

⁃ This program will modernize the city. An illuminated city is a safe city – declared the president of Rioluz, Bruno Bonetti.

The partnership also includes implementing other services within the Smart City concept, with the installation of 10 security cameras, 40% of which will feature facial recognition technology; five thousand Wi-Fi hotspots; three thousand solid waste sensors in manholes; and 1.500 traffic signal sensors, which will improve traffic flow. All of this will be monitored by the Operations Command Center (CCO), which will be integrated with the Rio Operations Center.

Also present at the event were the deputy mayor and secretary of Housing, Nilton Caldeira, and the deputy mayor of Jacarepaguá, Talita Galhardo.
