Rioluz changes the city's light bulbs, and 25% of Rio's public lighting points are now LED

The Luz Maravilha program has reached the milestone of 112 LED street lights installed throughout the city of Rio. This number represents 25% of the city's public lighting system. 121 neighborhoods and 102 communities have benefited since February, when Rioluz began providing the service.

The project has already reached neighborhoods in all regions of the city, such as Irajá, Centro, Pavuna, Bangu, Rocinha, Tijuca and Copacabana. The streets of Muzema, Curicica and Antares, in the West Zone, are on the list of areas that have received the new lighting, which is considered more efficient. One of the program's goals is to prioritize locations with higher rates of violence and lower HDI, always observing technical criteria for the installation of the lights.

Over the next two years, Rio de Janeiro will receive 450 LED light points, completing the modernization of Rio's lighting system. In addition, around 35 fiber optic poles will be installed, reinforcing the durability and safety of the equipment.

The program also includes the implementation of services within the Smart City concept, with the installation of ten thousand security cameras, 40% of which will have facial recognition technology; five thousand Wi-Fi points and ten thousand sensors for, for example, traffic and rainfall control.
