- Index assesses the implementation of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) in municipal bodies.
The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Integrity and Transparency (SMIT), has created an instrument, unprecedented at the municipal level, to monitor the maturity level of municipal bodies and entities in implementing the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), the LGPD Compliance Assessment Index (IAALGPD). It evaluates strategic dimensions such as planning and compliance with regulations, sharing of personal data, incident response, and protection measures, categorizing the bodies into Advanced, Intermediate, Initial, or Insignificant levels.
The methodology allows for the identification of progress, mapping of risks, and direction of preventive and corrective actions. With the consolidation of the Index achieved in 2025, the proposal is that the indicator will function not only as a control parameter but also as a driver of improvement, encouraging municipal bodies and entities to advance in their respective compliance journeys.
In the context of digital transformation and the use of new technologies, consolidating a culture of privacy and data protection is essential to ensure ethical and secure progress in public administration. With this Index, the municipality reinforces its commitment to a culture of integrity, transparency, and respect for citizens' privacy, consolidating the protection of personal data as a structuring axis of public management.
