City of Rio presents opportunities for innovation and technology at Web Summit Lisboa 2024

Web Summit is one of the largest and most influential technology and innovation events in the world - Disclosure From November 11 to 14, the city of Rio de Janeiro will be present at Web Summit Lisboa 2024, one of the largest and most influential technology and innovation events in the world. With an exclusive stand entitled “Rio: capital of innovation”, the space will highlight its initiatives in technology and economic development, promoting investment opportunities and strategic partnerships to strengthen the Rio innovation ecosystem.
– Rio’s participation in the Web Summit Lisbon is a unique opportunity to show the world the city’s potential, explore our vocations and strategic sectors. We expect to hold more than ten bilateral meetings per day with executives, talk to potential investors, and invite the public to attend the Web Summit Rio in April next year – said the president of Invest.Rio, Alexandre Vermeulen.
In addition, there will be a happy hour hosted by Visit Rio, a partner in increasing tourist flow and attracting events to the Marvelous City. The goal is to create an environment for networking and exchanging experiences, promoting Rio's vibrant culture and reinforcing the city's image as a global destination for business, tourism and innovation.
– Our presence at the Web Summit reaffirms our commitment to strengthening Rio's image as a technology and business destination, an essential step for us to advance in this niche, expand our reach in the sector and attract more and more investors, consolidating Rio as the country's technology hub – said the CEO of Visit Rio, Carlos Werneck.
Transfero, a Swiss-based blockchain-based financial solutions company, will also be present at the stand. The company, which is a strategic partner of the city, has selected five Brazilian startups to represent the country at this year's Web Summit Lisbon. The selected startups will be Alpha exhibitors at the event and will have the chance to connect with the greatest entrepreneurial minds in the world. In addition to supporting the event in Lisbon, Transfero is one of the sponsors of the Web Summit Rio, together with Itaú, Senac, Eletrobras and Claro.
Web Summit Lisboa has more than 70 people and the presence of representatives from the global innovation ecosystem, offering an important platform for Rio de Janeiro to present its urban solutions and innovative projects, in addition to establishing new international partnerships.
