Taxi.Rio Cidades now accepts online payments by credit card like other transport apps

Taxi.Rio Car - Archive/City of Rio Since September 25, the Táxi.Rio Cidades app has been accepting rides paid online by credit card. The new payment method promises to speed up the process for passengers and taxi drivers, eliminating the need to use card machines during rides – a recurring difficulty, since not all drivers had this equipment.
Users can register their card number directly in the app, as is already the case with other transportation services. According to IplanRio, the city government company responsible for the technological management of Táxi.Rio, discounts for payments made by credit card will be limited to 30%, while for payments made by PIX or cash, the discount can reach 40%.
In addition to being a safer option for drivers and passengers, the function speeds up the end of trips, meeting a long-standing demand from taxi drivers.
Since the implementation of the registration system for payment by credit card, around five thousand taxi drivers have signed up to the new payment method. The platform does not charge drivers a hosting fee and currently has more than 26 thousand active drivers.
Registered taxi drivers who have not yet activated the payment function can access the Taxi.Rio Cidades website, go to the “Update Your Data” section in the “Services” tab and follow the instructions.
