To celebrate the aesthetic and symbolic diversity of doors and windows throughout Rio de Janeiro, City Hall has opened registration for the 2025 edition of the traditional "Eyes to See" photography contest, sponsored by the Rio de Janeiro World Heritage Institute (IRPH). With the theme "Doors and Windows," this year's edition invites professional and amateur photographers to explore the aesthetic, cultural, and emotional richness of these architectural elements, which reveal ways of life, styles, techniques, and the city's own time.
This time, images will be sent exclusively by email, eliminating the need for physical delivery. The curators will select up to 50 photographs highlighting various frames: doors, windows, stained-glass windows, gates, and skylights found in cultural assets representative of Rio's Cultural Heritage.
"This year, the competition invites the public to take a fresh look at doors and windows: elements that hold stories, reveal ways of life, and are part of Rio's heritage. These are details that connect the city to time, memory, and our daily lives," explained IRPH president Laura Di Blasi.
The chosen images will be part of the virtual exhibition “Doors and Windows” and all participating photos will be incorporated into the IRPH permanent collection.
Registration is open until September 20, 2025. Each participant may submit up to five images in a single entry to the email address olhosdever.portasejanelas@gmail.com. It is necessary to complete the mandatory forms available in the contest announcement, at website.
The result will be announced 20 business days after the end of registration.
