Interested parties have until February 15 to register for the course - Disclosure

The Special Secretariat for Youth in Rio de Janeiro (JUVRio) has opened registration for the selection process for the Laboratory of Innovation for Sociopolitical Mediation (Lab.JUV-RIO). Interested parties have until February 15 to register for the course, which has 75 vacancies and a six-month scholarship of R$450.

Anchored in the Transformative Generation program, launched in August 2021, Lab.JUV-Rio aims to break with social exclusion through effective sociopolitical mediation methodologies and strategies so that young people from Rio de Janeiro aged 15 to 29 can think about global and local issues based on their realities. Based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this action will be carried out in partnership with the Integrated Center for Studies and Programs for Sustainable Development (Cieds).

The first edition will run from March to August 2022, with the theme “The city we want”. There will be 25 meetings, always on Saturday mornings, with a debate on the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda, bringing together the experiences of young people and their territories in the city to build a healthy, sustainable and less unequal future in an inclusive manner, based on the proposal for the implementation of public policies. The goal is for 600 young people to participate in Lab.JUV-RIO by 2024.

Classes, scholarship and registration

The meetings will be held in a hybrid format, that is, in person and online, and the vacancies will cover the following neighborhoods and regions: Centro (4), Zona Sul (4), Tijuca (4), Ramos (5), Méier (5), Madureira (5), Inhaúma (5), Penha (5), Pavuna (5), Ilha do Governador (4), Jacarepaguá (5), Barra da Tijuca (4), Bangu (5), Campo Grande (5), Santa Cruz (5), Guaratiba (5). The interviews will take place between February 21st and 25th and the results will be announced on March 2nd.

To select the young people who will participate in this experience, the level of commitment demonstrated in the responses to the application form and in the interviews will be analyzed, respecting the target audience of residents of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Of the vacancies, 20% are reserved for black and indigenous people and 5% for people with disabilities (PCD), as provided for in municipal laws 5.695/2014, 645/1984, 2.111/1994, 4.950/2008, 6.132/2017 and municipal decree 5.890/1986. Young people approved in the application and interview phases who are under 18 years of age must present authorization from their guardian in order to have their enrollment in the project effective.

The R$450 scholarship offered to the young people will be used to cover the cost of their stay in the project. To secure a place, the young people must have a minimum attendance rate of 75% and complete all the proposed activities.
