Rio City Hall forms an unprecedented partnership with Fiocruz to train environmental agents

An unprecedented partnership between the Municipal Department of Environment and Climate and Fiocruz will enable the qualification of community environmental agents in the city. The course is for those who work at the department's Environmental Education Center, and the idea is to prepare the team to develop educational actions related to climate issues in areas of social vulnerability.

The 89 students will have classes on ecology, deforestation, heat islands, global warming, air pollution, ecological sanitation, food security and climate environmental education, among other subjects. The agents will learn, for example, how to develop practical actions and pedagogical strategies to address these issues in the communities where they work.

Environmental agents, who work in places such as Complexo do Alemão, Vila Kennedy, Salgueiro and Rocinha, will have field, recreational and problem-solving classes, among other types of classes. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate to carry out activities with the population, providing guidance on the impact of climate change and the importance of changing habits that are harmful to the environment.

The course, scheduled to begin this Wednesday (26/10), will have a workload of 60 hours, last three months and is expected to graduate in February.
