A contingency plan was set up to reduce the impacts of the strike - Archive/City of Rio

In a decree signed by Mayor Eduardo Paes, published in Tuesday's (09/02) edition of the Official Gazette, the City Hall changes the rules for using the city's Bilhete Único. From now on, users will be able to travel on up to three conventional buses or any other means of transport (vans, VLT, etc.) within a 2h30 interval, in the event of a stoppage in the BRT service.

Decree No. 48.506 amends Article 5 of Decree No. 44.728, which regulates the law that instituted the Bilhete Único in the city of Rio. According to the text, the change aims to maintain urban mobility in the city. It is worth noting that three trips in the 2h30 period will only be permitted in cases of a BRT strike, which is legitimately supported by current legislation. In everyday life, the rule of two trips in the same time period is maintained.
