Led by Léo Santana, Bloco da Gold opened the third weekend of Carnaval de Rua 2025, attracting around 200 thousand people on the morning of this Saturday (15/02) to the megablocos circuit, on Rua Primeiro de Março, in downtown Rio. From the top of the trio, GG da Bahia, as he is called by his fans, led the crowd like a maestro, to the sound of some of his hits from Bahian pagodão, such as “Contatinho”, a song made in partnership with Anitta, “Perna Bamba” and “Zona de Perigo”.
An absolute success, Léo Santana made Primeiro de Março shiver in the scorching heat. Starting at 7 am, the party had a repertoire full of songs from other Brazilian rhythms.
– Rio is the city that knows how to throw carnival, whether on the streets or in Sapucaí. Imagine when it combines with Salvador? This combination can only work – said King Momo, Kaio Mackenzie.
Among the revelers, a Léo Santana lookalike, Daniel Cavalcante, stood out in the crowd with his 1,94m height. A declared fan of the singer from Bahia, the man said that his dream is to meet the artist.
– I was able to see him up close, I always thought I looked alike and I've been a fan since he started his career – said Cavalcante.
In addition to the megabloco, the morning party also featured the Desliga da Justiça block, at Praça Tiradentes, in the city center, with several revelers dressed up as heroes and villains from comics and movies. The president of the group, Leandro Monteiro, says that it started in 2009, with a meeting of friends who played drums from other blocks, at a bar table, which they called the Hall of Justice, in reference to the headquarters of the “Super Friends”, a DC Comics cartoon.
According to Monteiro, this is the first block with a 100% costumed drum section at Rio Carnival.
– Our expectation is to always honor the street carnival culture, to make everyone happy with our music and our joy.
Dressed up as the character Disgust, from the animated film “Inside Out”, party-goer Carla Costa said that she has been participating in the festivities since the first year of the block and highlighted the fact that people are always in character.
– I love it, this block is like our child.
Carla also commented that if she could have a superpower, it would be teleportation, to participate in other carnivals throughout Brazil.
– I already have a superpower, which is the willingness to endure playing in this heat in Rio de Janeiro – joked the party-goer.
Around 23 blocks will parade through the city streets on the first day of the third weekend of the 2025 Street Carnival. Among the most popular in the afternoon, the traditional Imprensa Que eu Gamo will take over Laranjeiras from 13 pm. Tecnomacumba, led by singer Rita Beneditto, promises to exalt religiosity and Afro-Brazilian culture with its parade, starting at 16 pm in Saúde.
Operational Plan for Street Carnival 2025
Expected to attract around six million people over 37 days of festivities, Carnaval de Rua 2025 will have, until March 9, more than 470 performances spread across different regions of Rio.
To ensure that the public enjoys the party safely and comfortably, the City Hall, through Riotur, has prepared a large operational scheme involving CET-Rio, the Municipal Health Department (SMS), Comlurb, the Public Order Department (Seop) and the Rio Municipal Guard (GM-Rio), among other bodies, which will operate at the event locations and in the surrounding areas.
The complete schedule of the processions, with date, time and route, is available on the Blocos do Rio 2025 app, on all digital platforms. The tool is free and works by geolocation. The list is also available on official website, which brings together, in addition to the parade calendar, news about the blocks and more information about Rio Street Carnival 2025.
