Comlurb has been carrying out preventative pruning to clear the path for the floats of the samba schools that will perform at the Marquês de Sapucaí. The route begins at Cidade do Samba, in Gamboa, and goes to the Sambadrome. The aim of the service is to protect the trees and the samba school floats from potential accidents due to maneuvers with large vehicles.

The work has begun and will continue until the entire route has been completed. By Thursday (January 15th), 1.287 maintenance tasks had been carried out, including the removal of dry and hanging branches and pruning. Most of the work is done during the early morning hours to avoid disrupting traffic or hindering the city's operations.

The following streets are included in the service route: Avenida Presidente Vargas, Rua Benedito Hipólito, Rua Frei Caneca, Rua Haddock Lobo, Avenida Venezuela, Rua Arlindo Rodrigues, and Rua Rivadavia Correa. The company is using pole pruners, chainsaws, and trucks with aerial work platforms for removing tree branches.
