The Subsecretariat of Animal Welfare (Subem) will open another veterinary unit next month (November), this time in Parque Manuel Bandeira, Cocotá neighborhood, North Zone. Castrations and clinical care for dogs and cats will be offered free of charge, as well as emergency surgeries.

Museum of Tomorrow celebrates first month of reopening after pandemic
The Municipal Department of Culture is celebrating the first month of reopening of the Museum of Tomorrow. Since September, when activities resumed, employees and the public have been instructed to strictly follow a series of preventive measures. The space, which once had more than 5 visitors per day, with up to 1200 simultaneously, now receives a maximum of only 300 people per hour.

The Municipal Health Department (SMS) draws the attention of Rio de Janeiro residents to the (Child and Adolescent Awareness Day regarding the Risks of Smoking*, celebrated next Sunday, October 11th. The date is an opportunity to strengthen actions to prevent the initiation of smoking, raising awareness among the population about the importance of protecting the new generations from a product that causes addiction and is extremely harmful to the lives of smokers and those who live with them: tobacco.

Parque Radical de Deodoro offers free physiotherapy sessions
The Special Secretariat for Tourism and Olympic Legacy (Seturleo) announces that the Deodoro Radical Park will offer free physiotherapy sessions. Registration begins next Tuesday, October 13. Interested parties simply need to go to the park administration with a medical report attesting to the need for physiotherapy in order to attend the sessions at the Olympic facilities. There will be 70 sessions per day.

City Hall dismantles irregular jet washes in Marechal Hermes
The Municipal Department of Public Order (SEOP) carried out another operation against illegal car washes this Thursday, October 08th, this time in Marechal Hermes, in the North Zone. With the participation of several municipal agencies and Cedae, the team removed two illegal water connections that, in addition to the car wash, supplied five illegal kiosks. All were notified, and 10 plastic tables and chairs were seized. A vehicle was also fined. In the second half of this year alone, joint actions integrated by the SEOP against illegal activity identified and cut off 16 “gatos” in several neighborhoods.

Municipal Guard participates in Operation Dry Law
The Municipal Guard is participating in the Lei Seca operation, which returns to the city streets this Thursday, the 8th. In total, eight guards from the Special Traffic Group (GET) are working at four points where the blitzes were set up, which had been suspended since March 18th due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

Municipal Health Department updates number of beds for Covid-19 and occupancy rate in the capital's SUS network
The Municipal Health Department reports that the municipal network is currently carrying out the absolute majority of Covid-19 care, as state and private hospitals have closed beds dedicated to treating the disease.
It is also important to highlight that the City of Rio is the only one that maintains a field hospital – the one at Riocentro – in operation, since units from other spheres did not even reach full operation – and that, recently, private partnerships with the government of the State of Rio demobilized field hospitals.

Comlurb promoted more special cleaning operations in communities
Comlurb carried out more special sanitation operations this Thursday (08/10) in several communities in the city. The initiative, which began in Rocinha on 9/4 and aims to reduce the risk of contamination by the new coronavirus, has already been extended to all 633 communities in the city. The cleaning is done with recycled water and neutral detergent, and hypochlorite in the sprayers.
