On Saturday (23/04), the Marquês de Sapucaí hosted the second day of parades of the samba schools of the Special Group. Six groups passed through the Sambadrome: Paraíso do Tuiuti, Portela, Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Unidos da Tijuca, Grande Rio and Vila Isabel. On Sunday (24/04) the Avenue will be occupied by the Junior Schools, starting at 16:30 pm. At Terreirão do Samba, the Saturday program began at 19 pm and featured attractions such as Jorge Aragão, Vou pro Sereno, Delcio Luiz and Velha Guarda do Império Serrano.

On Estrada Intendente Magalhães, in the North Zone, the parades will resume next Friday (29/04), with the Silver Series groups.

PUBLIC ORDER AND MUNICIPAL GUARD

The inspection and ordering actions carried out by the Public Order Secretariat (SEOP) and the Rio Municipal Guard (GM-Rio) around the Sambadrome and in Intendente Magalhães on the fourth day of parades included a
arrest. In four days of inspection and patrolling, four arrests have already been recorded and two people have been taken to the police station after being caught red-handed for theft, robbery and contempt. 294 fines were issued after traffic violations were caught red-handed, and 31 vehicles were towed. Since the beginning of the parades until Saturday, the 23rd, 1.547 traffic fines have been recorded. The GM-Rio staff also distributed 179 identification bracelets to children. Since the first day of the parades, 568 children have been identified in the area around the Sambadrome. The action is part of an awareness campaign against child exploitation, carried out in partnership with Social Welfare and the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CMDCA). 311 support or assistance actions for tourists were also recorded. In the four days of festivities, the total number of such assistances was 423.

Teams from the Undersecretariat of Operations (SUBOP) and the Urban Control Coordination (CCU) removed 86 street vendors who did not have authorization to operate in the vicinity of the Sambadrome. In total, 489 irregular items were seized, such as beverages, some in glass bottles that are prohibited for sale in street vending, carts and Styrofoam boxes.

In four days of operations in the vicinity of Marquês de Sapucaí, 440 street vendors have already been inspected and more than 853 irregular items have been seized by agents. The actions are carried out at all access points with a focus on combating disorder.

SEOP and GM-RIO are working on a special operation for Carnival 2022 at the Sambadrome with more than 500 agents per day, including municipal guards and public order agents, who work at the blockade points set up by
CET-Rio around the samba catwalk. In addition, the agents assist the samba schools in moving the floats with a focus on road safety and reducing impacts on traffic. This action takes place both
in Sapucaí and in Intendente de Magalhães.

 

HEALTH

On the second day of the Rio Special Group samba school parades, the Municipal Health Department (SMS-Rio) provided 465 medical care services at its medical stations along Marquês de Sapucaí. Of these, 18 patients with more serious conditions had to be transferred to one of the 22 emergency and urgent care units that served as backup. Over the four days of parades (two of the Gold Series and two of the Special Group), the seven stations provided 1.456 care services and 65 transfers.

SMS-Rio, through the Municipal Institute of Health Surveillance (IVISA-Rio), also acted in the inspection of
compliance with health standards, both in the provision of food and services and in the facilities, at the Sambadrome, at Terreirão do Samba and in the surrounding street vendors. On this second night of the Special Group, there were 84 inspections with eight infraction reports issued. Considering all four days of the event, there are a
total of 312 inspections and 33 fines applied.

The Municipal Health Department will maintain the medical care structure at the Sambadrome this Sunday
(24), when the children's samba schools parade, and also next Saturday, the night of the 2022 carnival champions' parade. SMS-Rio will also guarantee health care during the counting at Praça da Apoteose, on Tuesday, the 26th, with a post operating from 14 pm to 20 pm, with a team made up of three doctors, two nurses and three nursing technicians.

Two ambulances with advanced support will be made available to transfer patients with more serious cases.

 

COMLURB

Comlurb removed 45,6 tons of waste from the Sambadrome this Saturday (23/04), on the second day of the Special Group Samba Schools parade. During the day, from 7 am to 20 pm, the street cleaners prepared the large stage and left everything clean, removing 11,7 tons of trash. After the schools passed by, 33,8 tons were removed.

In four days of parades, Comlurb removed 170,9 tons of waste from the entire interior and exterior area
of the Sambadrome. The work at Intendente Magalhães, in the internal and external areas, resulted in 48,2 tons
of waste. 219 tons of waste were removed from the two parade stages. The company returns to the catwalk this Sunday (24) to ensure cleanliness during the children's schools parade.

The special cleaning scheme for Carnival 2022 has a total of 4.494 street cleaners on all days of
parades, at the Sambadrome and on Estrada Intendente Magalhães. 1.045 240-liter containers were also made available at the Sambadrome and 200 on Estrada Intendente Magalhães.

At the Sambadrome, there are 287 street cleaners working at night, 11 cleaning health posts and another 198 during the day.

daytime, which starts right after the parades.

 

SOCIAL ASSISTANCE

On the fourth day of Carnival, the Municipal Department of Social Assistance assisted, guided and identified 930 children and adolescents with their families, at the Sambadrome, Terreirão and Intendente Magalhães. The teams of
social approach helped 675 homeless people in the carnival areas and in the North and South zones, with 53 people being welcomed, including an elderly person.

At the Sambadrome, the Municipal Department of Social Assistance works in partnership with the Municipal Guard's School Patrol Group and the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, in the “Folia Legal” program.
Ten thousand wristbands will be made available during the five days of Carnival, in addition to an awareness campaign on violations of the rights of children and adolescents, such as alcohol consumption and child labor, among others. At Rua Benedito Hipólito 163, there is a space to assist unaccompanied or lost children, children of street vendors who are working around the Sambadrome, or children and adolescents in situations of rights violations, such as child labor.

Also with the CMDCA, Social Welfare employees distributed 863 leaflets and fans for the campaign.
combating the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents.

 

CET-RIO

The special traffic plan in the city center and all its access points began on Tuesday (19/04). The operation involves 260 operators, including CET-Rio agents and traffic support workers, who work to maintain traffic flow, prevent illegal parking, organize intersections, guide pedestrians and block roads. 19 tow trucks are available to clear roads, 29 motorcycles and 30 operational vehicles. Eleven variable message panels, both fixed and mobile, are also used to inform traffic closure times and traffic conditions. The City Hall Operations Center monitors the entire event area using cameras, allowing CET-Rio technicians to make adjustments to traffic light programming in order to ensure traffic flow.

TRANSPORT

The Rio City Hall has prepared a special operation for the public transportation system during Carnival. The recommendation is for the population to plan their trips considering the closures that are taking place around the Sambadrome, in the city center, and Estrada Intendente Magalhães, in the North Zone. The bus routes that pass through the closed areas have been modified. The subway and Supervia are open during the early hours of the morning, and taxis have boarding points around the Sambadrome. IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS

Preferably use public transport (train or subway);

If you are boarding at Santos Dumont Airport and Rio Bus Station, try to arrive early;

Avoid driving in the city center; Look for alternative routes. There are a large number of closures in the area, with the movement of floats;

During Carnival, the City Hall monitors the concentration of people in the Lapa region, however, there are no plans to close traffic in the area;

Respect the areas where parking is prohibited and pay attention to the restricted hours, as trailers are circulating in the area;

To ensure the safety of party-goers, we inform you that crossing must be done exclusively in the pedestrian crossing and always with extra care;

It is very important that the instructions of traffic agents and all signage installed in the area are respected;

Residents who have a private car and a parking space and who need to access the closed area of ​​the Sambadrome must do so via Largo do Estácio, always carrying proof of residence (electricity, gas, telephone bill) in their name.
