The Apotheosis Square - Marcelo Piu / Rio City Hall This year will not be the same as the last. In times of the Covid-19 pandemic, Marquês de Sapucaí had to remain silent. To honor the victims of the disease and also the samba schools that shine brightly on the catwalk every year, the Sambadrome gained a special lighting.
Until Saturday (20/02), when the Champions Parade would be held, Sapucaí and Apoteose will be illuminated every night. The lighting, every 10 seconds, resembles the colors of each of Rio's main samba schools.
Check out the details in the photographer's clicks Marcelo Piu, from Rio City Hall.
In the captions, excerpts from “Pra tudo se acaba na Quarta-feira”, a samba theme song written by Martinho da Vila for the Vila Isabel parade in 1984. A tribute to the professionals who make Carnival.
