The operational plan of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Guard (GM-Rio) for the Shakira concert this Saturday (May 3rd) on Copacabana Beach will involve 1.835 municipal guards. The operation began on April 28th with preventative actions focused on urban and road safety. GM-Rio will operate 24 hours a day in the area during the special operations for the event, between May 1st and 3rd. The operational plan will also include the support of 52 patrol cars.
In urban security operations, focusing on public well-being and assistance, 46 Municipal Guard posts will be set up along the beachfront and access roads to Copacabana, with special attention to roadblocks, searches, and barriers established by the Military Police. The corporation will also provide support around medical posts set up by the Municipal Health Department (SMS) and will conduct preventive patrols near the Cardeal Arcoverde, Cantagalo, and Siqueira Campos metro stations.
In traffic management and enforcement, the Municipal Guard will employ 649 agents exclusively dedicated to traffic operations. The teams will work to combat illegal parking, manage roadblocks planned by CET-Rio (Rio de Janeiro's traffic management company), monitor the Copacabana leisure area, and manage roadblocks in Botafogo and Flamengo Park, where bus stops will be located. The actions will focus on ensuring road safety, guiding pedestrians to cross safely, and minimizing the impact on traffic in the region.
