Municipal guards arrest man who used a fake gun to rob an elderly woman on a bus in downtown Rio.

Municipal guards from the Public Order Unit of Porto Maravilha (UOP-Porto Maravilha) arrested a 21-year-old man, caught in the act, on the afternoon of this Friday (January 23), for stealing a cell phone from a female passenger on a bus in Gamboa, in the central region of the city. The man used a replica firearm to threaten the victim, who is 67 years old.

The guards were alerted by the bus driver, who was traveling to Maricá, near the intersection of Barão de Tefé and Venezuela Avenues. He reported the incident and indicated the suspect's location. Upon approaching him, the municipal guards found the victim's cell phone and a replica firearm.

After the arrest, the man was taken to the 4th Police Station, where the robbery report was filed and the fake weapon was seized. The cell phone was returned to the victim.
