Young people from the Youth Center attend the Brazilian Beach Volleyball Circuit in Copacabana.

Ninety students had the experience of attending one of the main beach volleyball competitions - Press Release / JUVRio The Special Secretariat for Youth of Rio de Janeiro (JUVRio) took 90 students from the Youth Centers of Madureira and Cidade de Deus to closely follow the 5th stage of the 2026 Brazilian Beach Volleyball Circuit, held on Copacabana Beach, in front of the Copacabana Palace, on July 22, 28 and 29. The initiative provided young people with the opportunity to experience a high-level sporting competition, encouraging access to sport, leisure and new cultural experiences.
In total, 30 young people participated in each of the four visits. The Brazilian Beach Volleyball Circuit, organized by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV), celebrates the 35th anniversary of the sport in the country in 2026 and brings together some of the main Brazilian athletes in a season consisting of eight stages.
For many participants, it was the first opportunity to watch a professional beach volleyball competition. This is the case for Thaila Luiza Alves Rangel, 19, a student at the Madureira Youth Center, who, in addition to watching the championship, managed to take a picture with players Murilo and Fabrício.
"I've never been to a volleyball tournament. I always like to try new things, and I encouraged my classmates to participate. I got the crowd cheering, made up a song, taught it to everyone, and even the players joined in the fun. It was an incredible experience," said the young student from the northern part of the city.
This action is part of JUVRio's proposal to expand access for young people in Rio de Janeiro to sports, cultural, and leisure activities, promoting experiences that contribute to civic education and the social development of young people served by the Secretariat's facilities.
The activity was part of the JUVRio Opportunities Club, an initiative that, since 2025, has already benefited more than 11 students enrolled in the Secretariat's courses with free extracurricular activities, such as workshops, guided tours, and participation in cultural, sporting, and educational events. The Youth Spaces offer free courses focused on technology, innovation, and the job market, in addition to promoting external activities that bring students closer to different cultural, sporting, and educational events in the city.
