Rio de Janeiro City Hall presents the operational plan for Shakira's concert in Copacabana.

Art: Courtesy of Rio de Janeiro City Hall The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cavaliere, presented, this Wednesday (April 29th), at the Operations and Resilience Center (COR), the operational plan for the Shakira concert on Copacabana Beach, on Saturday (May 2nd). Two million people are expected at this edition of the “Todo Mundo no Rio” event, which is already part of the city's official calendar, with performances scheduled throughout May.
"Todo Mundo no Rio" already has editions guaranteed until 2028. And the estimate is that this year alone the event will generate around R$ 800 million for the Rio de Janeiro economy, according to a study prepared by the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development (SMDE) and Riotur.
"This city isn't known for its big events by chance. Rio de Janeiro has expertise and a history of great achievements in the events field, going far beyond the city hall, the government, or public agencies. For us, parties are serious business. Because parties generate jobs, income, development, and identity for the city. Our investment in this show will give us a financial return 40 times greater. We are used to hosting large events, especially with the world's attention focused on us, like Carnival, New Year's Eve, the Olympics, the World Cup, the G20, the BRICS, and in the last two years, when we hosted Madonna and Lady Gaga. And this time we are prepared to welcome our Shakira, more Latin and more Brazilian than ever. I am certain it will be an absolute success," said Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere.
Municipal agents will be working in various areas to ensure another successful event and the smooth functioning of the city: security, public order actions, traffic enforcement, urban cleaning, social assistance, emergency services, support, and prevention of violence against women.
To facilitate public movement, there will be a special transportation operation, with exclusive lines running from Botafogo to Copacabana, in addition to the 24-hour operation of the Metro and Line 1 of the VLT (light rail). The city hall also detailed the access and parking restrictions in Copacabana, which begin at midnight on Saturday. Furthermore, 318 cameras will be used to monitor the Copacabana area, with 162 installed along the beachfront and on streets near the event.
Structures: Shakira performs on the biggest stage of all editions.
The party starts at 17:30 PM, with performances by two guest DJs on the stage set up in front of the Copacabana Palace. The main show, by Shakira, is scheduled for 21:45 PM and should last about two hours. After the performance, starting at 0:15 AM, another DJ takes over to keep the crowd entertained.
"The new thing is this DJ who will close the event. He will stay until 2 am for those who want to enjoy themselves more and leave more calmly, without the need to rush, helping the event disperse safely," said the president of Riotur, Bernardo Fellows.
The general structures and figures showing the scale of the event were also presented, which will have the largest stage of all editions of "Todo Mundo no Rio", with 2.500 m². The walkway in front of the stage will be 25 meters long, and the stage will feature 680 m² of LED panels. In addition, there will be 16 sound and video towers scattered across the sand for the live broadcast of the show.
As with other shows on the beach, there will be special facilities for people with disabilities, with three reserved areas: in front of Rua Duvivier, Rua Ronald de Carvalho, and Avenida Prado Júnior.
Traffic: Road closures in the Copacabana neighborhood for the show begin at midnight on Saturday.
Mobility: Special operation will have bus lines for access to the show.
The Women's Secretariat is carrying out protection and guidance actions for the show.
Social Services will be working to protect children and adolescents during the show.
The Municipal Guard will operate with more than a thousand agents.
Public order officers will be present for patrolling and monitoring at the show.
Comlurb: show will feature the largest cleaning infrastructure for major events held in Copacabana.
Health: Copacabana show will have three medical stations.
COR-Rio will have 318 cameras to monitor the Copacabana neighborhood.
