City Hall launches Integra Rio, a program to promote unity between the capital and other cities

Launch of the Integra Rio program - Beth Santos / Rio City Hall Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes and Metropolitan Integration Secretary Aquiles Barreto announced the launch of the Integra Rio Program on Wednesday (December 08). With an investment of over R$12 million, the goal is to promote integrative actions between the capital and other cities in the state, through financial support for projects and proposals that favor the development of new businesses and partnerships in the areas of culture, tourism and research.
Regarding research, projects must cover the three structuring axes of the metropolis: environment and sustainability; transportation and mobility; and urban planning and housing. The Special Secretariat for Metropolitan Integration (SEIM) emphasizes that all projects must result in new products, such as books, e-books, websites, applications and seminars.
For Mayor Eduardo Paes, this exchange that will occur from now on, between the capital and the other cities in the State, is essential:
– We created the Metropolitan Integration Secretariat, understanding the entire state of Rio as a metropolis. There are a few ways for this integration to happen. First, experience. The city of Rio has a very high-quality public service, with good experiences that can be implemented in areas such as health, mobility and solid waste. This is an important aspect and vice-versa. We saw the Minha Casa, Meu Trabalho program, from the Araruama City Hall, a super simple, effective and transformative project. We also want good examples from the interior of the state. It is very important that this happens, that the capital dialogues with the interior. This is the objective of Integra Rio.
In total, up to 172 projects will be sponsored. Sponsorship quotas will be divided into four categories, according to the scope of the projects. The selection criteria and other information will be included in the Integra Rio Call for Proposals, which will be available on the websites of the City of Rio and SEIM.
According to the Metropolitan Integration Secretariat, Integra Rio is an avant-garde program that aims to restore unity between the people of Rio de Janeiro and Fluminense, demonstrating the importance of building collective experiences that seek to restore a sense of belonging, sharing cultures and knowledge, and preserving the individuality of each region.
– We believe that through research it will be possible to extract solutions to sensitive problems in the Metropolitan Region, which could generate public policies beyond municipal borders – explains Aquiles Barreto.
Categories by projects
– Integration for the Development of New Businesses and Partnerships: projects for holding exhibitions, festivals, fairs, seminars, meetings, production, training and dissemination of knowledge, which enable integrated actions and/or partnerships for new initiatives and businesses involving products and/or services with socioeconomic impact.
– Cultural Integration: cultural projects for metropolitan integration such as exhibitions, festivals, shows, performances, shows, artistic projects for intervention in urban spaces, presentations, training, cultural and audiovisual production and dissemination of knowledge.
– Integration for Tourism: integration projects with the City of Rio de Janeiro, with tourist impact.
– Research and Innovation: thinking, planning and proposing a metropolis in a connected, integrated and sustainable way, uniting processes and decisions to implement more efficient public policies, which encourage the debate of urgent issues for the development of the metropolitan region.

Social Action through Music – ASM
Social Action for Music – ASM is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works to promote inclusive citizenship through music education. The program is aimed at children and adolescents from economically disadvantaged communities. Over 40 young people have attended the institution over its 24 years of existence. ASM is present in all regions of Brazil.
My Home My Work
“My Home, My Job” is the title of the program that has been transforming unemployed people into entrepreneurs, owners of their own business. The bold job and income generation program was implemented in the municipality of Araruama in 2003, under the administration of then Mayor Chiquinho da Educação, and reimplemented in 2017 under the administration of current Mayor Lívia do Chiquinho.
Popular Music in, Bom Jesus do Itabapoana
The Chorinho and Accordion Festival, which takes place in the Rosal district, in the municipality of Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, was born from a popular initiative and is now in its 10th edition. Renowned names in instrumental music validate the initiative, which now has the support of the city government and SESI/FIRJAN. The event is internationally recognized.
Sport for social inclusion, in Macaé
Projects, even if still in their early stages, that aim to promote integration through sports, culture or tourism can apply for sponsorship from the Integra Rio Program. Radio host Robson Oliveira was approached by a group of parents concerned about their children's future. They were looking for help to implement a sports project. And so the social project aimed at vulnerable children in the city of Macaé, in the North of Rio de Janeiro, took shape.
Among so many children interested in participating in a sport, the 11-year-old boy Klaus Henrique and the 11-year-old girl Yasmim dos Santos caught everyone's attention. Klaus can be considered a veteran, with 54 gold medals, 3 silver medals, in state and national competitions and 6 belts in his category in jiu-jitsu and Yasmim has already collected 16 championship titles in her category, in the same sport.
Presentation by musician Marcello Garcia
Marcelo is a musician who lives in Vigário Geral and discovered his calling when he heard his teacher playing “O samba de uma nota só” by Antônio Carlos Jobim. He began his musical career at the Manuel Congo Popular Orchestra, under the direction of teacher Daniel Garcia. Classes were held in a disused school bathroom. In 2019, Marcello enrolled at the renowned Villa Lobos music school.
A young but experienced musician, he was a member of several orchestras, including the Forte Copacabana Guitar Orchestra.
He currently teaches at the “Meu Kantinho Centro Cultural” project. In addition to the guitar, Marcello has been dedicating himself to the flute. His inspiration is the work of Joaquim Callado.
