Seop demolishes irregular buildings in power transmission line area

The Public Order Department is carrying out an operation this Thursday (5/12) to demolish illegal buildings on Estrada do Portinho, in Irajá, an area that is affected by organized crime. The buildings are illegal because they are located on the banks of the Rio dos Cachorros II and under power lines. They pose an even greater risk to potential residents of the units, as it is an area at risk of collapse, erosion and flooding, in addition to preventing maintenance of the power grid and dredging of the river, which could cause power outages and flooding in the region.
The action removes enclosures intended for raising animals, lot demarcations and foundations, and approximately 20 uninhabited buildings made of wood and masonry, still in the initial phase. There is a lawsuit filed by the Rio Águas Foundation that determines the demolition of the aforementioned buildings because they were built illegally in the Marginal Protection Strip of Rio dos Cachorros II.
– This is yet another operation by the Department of Public Order aimed at demolishing illegal constructions as a preventive measure. These are uninhabited buildings, built illegally, without authorization or license. They were just beginning to be built and, what is even more serious, they were on the riverbank, compromising the flow of water, which could cause flooding and erosion. Furthermore, they were very close to power transmission lines, which is a series of irregularities that the city government, through its team at the Department of Public Order, is demolishing as a preventive measure, before they are effectively occupied or reach greater proportions. Therefore, we are continuing with this work of urban planning, of financially suffocating organized crime, since this is a region where these criminals are influential, and to preserve the environment and people's lives -, stated the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.
