City hall dismantles gym that used to operate on a sidewalk in Ilha do Governador

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Public Order (SEOP), removed three irregular structures that were occupying the sidewalk around Praça do Braço Forte, on Ilha do Governador, in the city's North Zone, on Wednesday, October 28. Among the establishments that were obstructing the public space were a gym, a street vendor trailer (fixed to the ground and with a brick bathroom), and a water and coal storage tank. The joint action resulted in the seizure of 10 kg of weights used in the gym and 100 gas cylinders.

During the operation, four vehicles were also removed for illegal parking and neglect, and another seven were fined for various irregularities: six of them were providing additional passenger transport (vans and kombis). Three illegal electricity connections were also removed and around three tons of waste were collected.

With planning by the Subsecretariat of Operations (Subop) of Seop, the special ordering operation brought together agents from the Municipal Guard, Subsecretariat of Conservation, Urban Control Coordination (Municipal Finance Department), Towing and Supplementary Transport coordinators (from Seop itself), Comlurb, Light and Cedae, in addition to the 17th BPM.
