City Hall prohibits commercial establishments in Ponto Chic, in Padre Miguel

The Public Order Department (Seop) carried out an Operation of Ordering and Inspection, as well as a Disturbance of Peace operation, at Ponto Chic, in Padre Miguel, on Thursday night (14/3). A fruit and vegetable store was closed for operating in disagreement with the City Hall's order. A fine was also applied for operating with the sound level above the permitted level. The Municipal Institute of Health Surveillance, Zoonosis Surveillance and Agricultural Inspection (IVISA-Rio) fined an establishment for lack of hygiene and a bar was fined for the improper use of tables and chairs. During the operation, a vehicle was fined for being parked illegally, sound equipment was removed and illegally used tarps were collected.

– Ponto Chique is a very important area for the city. It is a fundamental gastronomic hub for development. We need to ensure that these establishments operate in accordance with the City Hall’s rules. We have detected, including in response to several complaints from residents in the area, disturbances of the peace and undue occupation of public spaces. That is why we carried out this operation to regulate the situation by closing down one of the establishments that had its license revoked due to repeated violations and fines, precisely so that bars and restaurants can operate in harmony with the residents, without disturbing the peace, without undue use of public spaces, and without hindering the crossing and free space for people to walk on the sidewalks. We will continue to carry out these actions in the area and we hope to count on the collaboration of business owners as well – emphasized the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.

Agents from the Municipal Guard, IVISA-Rio and the Greater Bangu Subprefecture participated in the operation.
