Seop agents seized around 80 sharp objects - Disclosure

The Municipal Department of Public Order (Seop) and the Jacarepaguá Subprefecture carried out, this Thursday (15/5), an inspection operation in scrapyards in the region of Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone. Three establishments were inspected and one of them was closed for operating irregularly, without a license and with the security camera system out of operation - which violates current legislation.

– We will continue to tirelessly inspect illegal scrapyards, especially to combat the receiving of wires, copper and vehicle parts without origin. Unfortunately, we know that theft and robbery routes often pass through these illegal establishments and that is why we carry out constant operations in these locations – explained the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.

During the operation, approximately 500 kilos of vehicle parts and carcasses that had been discarded illegally on the sidewalks were collected, without identifying those responsible. SEOP agents also seized approximately 80 sharp objects, such as machetes, scissors and axes. In addition, the power was cut off at one of the establishments.

– We will not let illegality go unnoticed. We are constantly working with SEOP throughout Jacarepaguá to identify and fine establishments that are not regularized and that do not prove the origin of the products sold – said the deputy mayor of Jacarepaguá, Igor Augusto.

The operation had the support of the Municipal Guard, Comlurb, Light, RioLuz, Iguá and Military Police, which supported the team during the inspection.
