The Municipal Department of Public Order (Seop) carried out an operation on Tuesday, the 17th, to curb the operation of illegal car washes in the neighborhoods of Padre Miguel and Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio. The agents verified complaints registered at the Rio City Hall's Central 1746 about illegal occupation of sidewalks, lack of operating licenses, and theft of water and electricity.

During the operation, nine car washes were dismantled, resulting in the seizure of 56 items by the Urban Control Coordination (CCU), including a vacuum cleaner and two cones. Light teams removed six illegal electrical outlets and employees of Zona Oeste Mais Saneamento disconnected eight water theft points. Two establishments were notified by the Licensing and Inspection Coordination (CLF) for carrying out irregular activities.

The agents visited several points in the neighborhoods, such as Maravilha, Ceres, Maria Estrela, Carangolas, Guaiaca streets, among others. Coordinated by the Seop Operations Sub-Secretariat, the action had the support of the 14th Military Police Battalion, the Mobile Tactical Group (GTM) of the Municipal Guard and Comlurb.

The operation against illegal car washes has already been carried out in other neighborhoods such as Jacarepaguá, Freguesia, Taquara, Pechincha, Bento Ribeiro, Rocha Miranda, Cascadura, Turiaçu, Madureira, Benfica and Realengo. New actions will be carried out with a focus on combating illegalities.
