The location was fined by the department's Licensing and Inspection Coordination for not having a business license for this type of activity.
Several carts, chairs, shopping carts, gas cylinders and structures for setting up tents were seized by the agents, filling two trucks. The material was taken to the public warehouse. In addition, merchandise that would be sold illegally was seized: cell phone screen protectors and covers, cosmetics, beverages, hair accessories, pet clothing, among others. Some of the material found was left outdoors, without protection, and susceptible to contamination by animals, which could cause some type of harm to the consumer's health.
– We have carried out another inspection and regulation action in the city, this time at the request of legal street vendors in the region. The population needs to understand that the City Hall will not tolerate any type of illegality and that we will always combat any attitude that causes harm to society and also to legal merchants and street vendors – stated the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.
On Tuesday morning, another operation was also carried out to combat the illegal sale of hot meals on Rua Haddock Lobo, in the Tijuca neighborhood, in the North Zone of the city. 160 hot meals were seized, in addition to approximately 70 drinks. A vehicle that was used as a storage facility was removed.
Municipal Guard agents participated in the operation.
