Seop delivers identification kits to street vendors who work on the sands of Rio

The Public Order Department (SEOP) will deliver 13 identification vests and authorization badges to street vendors selling sarongs, bikinis, mate, cookies, sunscreen, among others, along the coast of Rio de Janeiro on the 14th, 15th and 400th. The new feature is that the badges will have a QR code, which both the inspection agents and the public themselves will be able to check the status of the street vendor.

To obtain the new identification cards, street vendors must take their photo ID and updated authorization document (TUAP) to the Urban Control Coordination Office (CCU), located at Rua Ministro Hélio Beltrão, no. 50, in Estácio, from 10 am to 13 pm. The professionals will also receive a lecture promoted by the CCU, an agency linked to Seop, on the proper use of the material, good practices and rules that must be followed while on the beaches.

– In addition to helping municipal agents monitor their work, the new identifications will also serve to ensure that both the population of Rio and tourists who visit Rio’s beaches know clearly that the street vendor is registered. This provides greater security, transparency and guarantees for the population – highlighted the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.

Initially, the agents' approach will be educational, in order to raise awareness among street vendors about the importance and need to use identification equipment. The fine for not using the badge and vest will be R$420,00.

In 2022, Seop had already delivered 40 umbrellas to each beachfront beach vendor in the city.
