Seop expands the Ambulante em Harmonia program to the Catete and Centro neighborhoods

This week, the Department of Public Order is carrying out two more expansions of the Ambulante em Harmonia program, this time to locations in the Catete and Centro neighborhoods. With these deliveries, the program now includes seven locations. The neighborhoods of Bonsucesso, Taquara, Méier, Cacuia and Vila Isabel have already received the project, totaling 409 new authorizations granted and 846 new stalls delivered to street vendors.

On Tuesday (22/3), the program was inaugurated on Rua do Catete. There, 120 new licenses were granted, 86 of which were mapped on the ground by teams from the Urban Control Coordination (CCU) and 36 from the Single Registry of Street Vendors (Cuca), in addition to 250 new stalls delivered to old and new street vendors.

– This is yet another delivery of new licenses and new equipment so that street vendors can carry out their work with dignity. The Street Vendor in Harmony project will continue to be expanded to other locations in the municipality – stated the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.

Street vendor Ana Claudia Martins, 55, was moved when she received her work permit.

– I have always worked on the street. Receiving a license is something I have been waiting for for many years. Today was the realization of my dream, which was to have a license to work legally. For many it may seem insignificant, but for us it is very important, since we now work within the law. It is a huge achievement – ​​highlighted the street vendor.

 

– Today is an important day for order in the Catete neighborhood. It is essential that pedestrians, established businesses and street vendors live together in harmony, complying with the rules and allowing free movement on the sidewalks – said Flávio Valle, deputy mayor of the South Zone.

 

 

New deliveries on Thursday

On Thursday (24/3), the Ambulante em Harmonia project will arrive at Praça Mário Lago, in the region known as Buraco do Lume, in downtown Rio. There, 53 new stalls will be delivered to street vendors who already have authorization to remain in the area.

The program aims to promote order in areas with a strong commercial concentration, in addition to harmonizing public spaces between established businesses, pedestrians and street vendors.

The City Hall has provided standardized tents for the professionals. In addition, they will also have aprons and identification cards to indicate that they are in good standing. The card must be presented during routine inspections carried out by agents from the Seop Urban Control Coordination.
