Seop demolishes nine irregular buildings in Guaratiba

The buildings were built in public areas, behind municipal units - Fábio Costa/Seop The Public Order Department (SEOP) and the West Zone III Subprefecture are carrying out the demolition of nine irregular buildings on Diogo Jácome Street in Guaratiba this Tuesday (3/6). The residential properties have two floors and are in the masonry and plastering phase and are currently unoccupied. Engineers from Rio City Hall estimate that the responsible parties will suffer losses of approximately R$1 million.
The buildings were erected in public areas, behind municipal units: Professora Maria Helena Sampaio Marques Municipal School; Engenheiro Gastão Rangel Municipal School; EDI Creche Escola Marcos Flamínio Portugal Pinto and the Olavo Monteiro de Carvalho Educational Technological Gymnasium (GET).
– The demolition of these irregular buildings is yet another action to ensure the correct use of public areas. Our priority is to ensure that public spaces are preserved for the population and used appropriately – said the Secretary of Public Order, Brenno Carnevale.
On two plots of land, each measuring approximately 200 square meters, the agents located and demolished two leisure areas, both with swimming pools. One of them was being built as a sort of party room, with a barbecue and bathrooms, which was still in the finishing stages.
– This operation carried out in Guaratiba is a fundamental step towards ensuring order and security in our region. We cannot allow irregular constructions to compromise the quality of life of residents and the integrity of public areas. Collaboration between the sub-prefecture and SEOP is essential to curb these irregularities and preserve our urban space. We are committed to listening to the demands of the population, who want clean and passable streets, and we will remain firm in the fight against disorder and inappropriate occupation – stated the sub-mayor of West Zone III, Ednelson de Lima.
Agents from the Municipal Guard, Comlurb, RioLuz, Light, Zona Oeste Mais and the Social Assistance Secretariat also participate in the operation.
