The Municipal Department of Public Order carried out, this Thursday (13), another operation to organize and clear public areas at the UERJ Interchange, on Avenida Rei Pelé. At the location, agents seized knives, sharp objects, a saw and material for drug use.

During the operation, large objects were also collected, such as a sofa, mattresses and other items that were occupying public spaces illegally. In total, the Municipal Urban Cleaning Company (Comlurb) removed three tons of waste. The operation also had the support of the Municipal Department of Social Assistance (SMAS), which approached 15 homeless people who refused to be taken in by the City Hall shelters.

– SEOP continues to work hard to maintain order in this region. Unfortunately, some people insist on breaking the rules. We will continue to work hard to ensure order and prevent public spaces from being occupied illegally – says Brenno Carnevale, Secretary of Public Order.

History of actions in the region

This is not SEOP's first operation in the region. In 2025, five operations were already carried out at the UERJ Interchange. Last year, 31 operations were carried out, resulting in the seizure of hundreds of sharp objects and the removal of 41 tons of waste.
