Health Surveillance and Public Order officials seize 160 liters of unlabeled cachaça in Jardim América.

The Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (Seop) and the Municipal Institute of Sanitary Surveillance (Ivisa-Rio) issued fines, in a joint action this Wednesday (12), to two establishments that were selling food in improper conditions on Rua General Magalhães Barata, in Jardim América, North Zone of Rio.

At the first location, 160 liters of alcoholic beverages without any labeling or indication of registration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) were destroyed, in addition to food products, such as salami and butter, that were not registered to circulate in the municipality.

At the second establishment, which sells barbecue kits assembled on-site, inadequate hygiene and structural conditions were found, in addition to products thawing at room temperature and a lack of sanitary licensing. The premises were shut down.

Continuous actions

Since October 2nd, Ivisa-Rio teams have inspected more than 1.070 establishments that sell or distribute alcoholic beverages to prevent the sale of adulterated products. These actions, often carried out with the support of Seop, continue on an ongoing basis in different neighborhoods of the city.
