Composer Carlos Colla passed away in January this year - Disclosure The Rio City Hall paid tribute to composer Carlos Colla by naming the leisure area that houses the Quadra do Cardosão in Laranjeiras after him. In a decree published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday (5/9), the artist began to identify the street located at the intersection of Aparício Borges and Cardoso Júnior streets. With the change, the place, which had no official name, will now be called Praça Carlos Colla.
Signed by Mayor Eduardo Paes, the decree that defines the name of the square took into consideration the deliberation of the Rio de Janeiro Commission for the Naming of Public Places and Facilities, subordinate to the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Planning.
A great composer of Brazilian popular music, Carlos Colla passed away in January of this year, at the age of 78. With over two thousand songs under his belt, the composer was also a singer and music producer. He began his artistic career at the age of 14 and created great partnerships, such as with the composer Maurício Duboc, with whom he wrote some of his greatest hits, including “Falando Sério”, a song immortalized by Roberto Carlos.
