The 33 young authors of the best essays written in the classroom were awarded - Marcos de Paula/City of Rio The Rio de Janeiro City Attorney's Office and the Municipal Department of Education (SME) held the awards ceremony for the 26rd edition of the Young Citizen of Rio de Janeiro Contest, held with 8th grade elementary school students, this Tuesday (August 3th). With the theme "For a more cooperative and sustainable Rio de Janeiro – environmentally, socially and economically," the contest awarded notebooks, medals and diplomas to 9 young authors of the best essays written in the classroom.
"The Attorney General's Office is very proud to partner with the Municipal Municipality of São Paulo to host this competition. For us, this is the most joyful ceremony of the year. Today, you will receive a gift that we present with great care and pride, and that will serve to further your learning. Congratulations to all," said the Municipal Attorney General, Daniel Bucar.
The essays were corrected and selected by a dedicated committee comprised of representatives from both organizations. Among the criteria used in selecting the texts were creativity, originality, and vocabulary, among others.
"You are in a time of transition, finishing 9th grade with us. And this is just the beginning of your journey. Don't give up your writing skills. May you see this award, this initiative, as an opportunity to discover your talents and be great role models in schools. Dream big," said Municipal Secretary of Education Renan Ferreirinha.
This is the third edition of the project, which has already addressed the themes "458 years since the Foundation of the City of Rio de Janeiro: what city do I want to live in?" and "Rights Education as an Instrument of Citizenship", always with 9th grade students from Municipal Public Schools.
9th grade student Kaique Gonçalves was very happy with the award.
"I've never had the opportunity to have good equipment. So I'm going to use the prize to focus on my studies and prepare for a selection process I want to participate in. The notebook will definitely help me a lot," shared the boy, who dreams of being an entrepreneur.
Young Sarah Eduarda Silva was also one of the winners and already has plans to carry out with the help of the notebook she received.
– I've been wanting a laptop for a long time. Now, I plan to use it a lot for my studies and writing. I really enjoy writing and plan to write a book one day.
