- Rio City Hall opens new veterinary station in Flamengo
The unit will offer free castration surgeries and clinical care - Rafael Catarcione/City of Rio The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Animal Protection and Defense, inaugurated, this Thursday (25/5), the Flamengo veterinary clinic, in the South Zone of Rio. The unit, which is located on Rua São Salvador, at number 1, will offer castration surgeries and free clinical care.
– In addition to meeting the demands of the South Zone planning area, the new post will also serve community animals in areas such as Aterro do Flamengo and the city’s central region. Our estimate is that around three thousand animals will be neutered and around three thousand clinical appointments will be carried out. I always emphasize that the Bicho Rio program has a high social reach – highlights Secretary Vinícius Cordeiro.
Flamengo resident Claudia Cristina took her dog Belinha for clinical care and her dog Oto for castration. She celebrated the City Hall's initiative.
– Sometimes people fall in love with animals and can’t afford to pay for veterinary services. The service here is excellent, with attentive and caring professionals.
The clinic is open from Monday to Friday, except on holidays. Castrations are performed from 8 am to 16:30 pm, and clinical care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis from 8 am to 15 pm. To schedule a castration and clinical care appointment, you must present your ID, CPF and proof of residence.
