The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Public Order (Seop), is starting another “Blitz da Vida” operation this Monday, August 24, this time in the Parish of Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone. This is the eighth neighborhood to be included in the project that combines ordering actions and other preventive measures to combat the Covid-08 pandemic, such as the distribution of masks, in public spaces prone to crowds during the reopening. In one month, from July 19 to August 21, the “Blitz” has already resulted in 07 inspections and guidance to commercial establishments (21) and street vendors (08), and 1.250 approaches to homeless people, with 587 shelters.

The task force also recorded 346 traffic fines for various irregularities, with 139 vehicles removed for illegal parking; and the removal of more than 30 tons of solid waste from the streets of the seven neighborhoods it visited: Centro, Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Campo Grande, Santa Cruz and Tijuca.

Weekend summary: 24 establishments inspected in night-time operations to prevent crowds

This weekend, SEOP joined nighttime operations to verify reports of irregular events with crowds in 24 establishments (bars, restaurants and nightclubs) in the North and West zones of the city. In total, 20 fines were issued: nine by the Municipal Finance Department, eight by the Municipal Guard (for health violations, such as crowds) and three by the Subsecretariat of Health Surveillance, which closed down an establishment in Marechal Hermes. In traffic control, the operations recorded 25 fines for irregular parking with four vehicles towed from these points.

Among the neighborhoods that received the teams, Bangu (11 establishments) and Barra da Tijuca (6 establishments) had the largest number of inspections. In addition to these locations, the task force visited Olaria, Méier, Sulacap, Marechal Hermes, Padre Miguel, Campo Grande, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Vila da Penha, Ilha do Governador and Guaratiba, on the nights of Friday (21st) to Sunday (23). The schedule of actions is based on complaints received via channel 1746 and a survey of parties announced on social media.

Campo Grande Fair – On the morning of Sunday, August 23, municipal agents also worked at the Campo Grande Street Market, where 08 of the 40 vendors inspected were ticketed by the City Hall’s Market Coordination, and 67 illegal stalls were removed. In the surrounding area, another 16 street vendors were inspected by Urban Control inspectors, with 26 of them unauthorized being instructed to leave. Six vehicles were removed for illegal parking and approximately 23 kilos of solid waste were collected.

General numbers – Since the beginning of the actions to combat the pandemic, on March 18, Seop has already integrated more than 475 joint operations throughout the city. Until August 19, 38.526 establishments were inspected, with 28.003 commercial points closed. In addition, 11.251 occurrences were attended to by Disk Aglomeração, which operates based on calls to Central 1746.
