  • RioFilme announces funding program schedule: project selection should be completed by 2025

RioFilme, an agency linked to the Municipal Department of Culture, will be the only public agency in the country to open applications and announce the projects selected for its funding program in 2025. The schedule released by the company predicts that the winning proposals, which will be supported by the 2025 Rio de Janeiro Audiovisual Funding Program, will be announced on December 16.

According to the schedule, the publication of the validation of applications for notices 3 and 5 took place on Monday (15/9). At the end of October, the results of the classification of proposals for the oral defense stage (pitching) of notices 1 (line 1), 2 and 5 will be announced. On November 18, the final results of the selected proposals from notices 1 (line 1), notices 2 and 5 will be announced. Between December 5 and 12, the results of the proposals classified for the oral defense stage (pitching) of notices 1 (line 2), and notices 3 and 4 will be announced. And on December 16, the final results of the selected and alternate proposals from notice 1 (line 2), notices 3 and 4 will be announced. In early January 2026, the results of the qualification stages for hiring of notices 1 (lines 1 and 2), notices 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be announced.

The Rio de Janeiro Audiovisual Development Program's calls for proposals were launched at the end of May this year and received a record number of applications. 1.302 projects were submitted, representing an increase of over 50% compared to the same calls launched in 2024.

"It's important that we publish a clear timeline to provide the industry with security and predictability. With transparency and governance, we reaffirm the principles of RioFilme's Integrity Program, a company participating in the Comptroller General's Office's Pacto Brasil (Brazilian Pact), providing predictability and security for all stakeholders involved in our actions. Thus, RioFilme continues to lead the way in attracting new public and private investments, with partners who contribute to the global goal of developing the audiovisual industry," said RioFilme's president, Leonardo Edde.

In 2025, Rio de Janeiro City Hall made the largest investment in the audiovisual industry in its history, with R$131,1 million in funding. Some of this funding came from a regional agreement between the city and the Federal Government, Ancine, and the Audiovisual Sector Fund. Of this total, RioFilme invested and contracted R$31,1 million in 77 projects in the first half of the year.
