Luz Maravilha Program arrives in the Copacabana neighborhood

The city government launched the Luz Maravilha program in Copacabana on Tuesday (22/06). The inauguration ceremony took place on Avenida Atlântica, in front of the Copacabana Palace, an iconic landmark in the neighborhood, and was attended by the president of Rioluz, Bruno Bonetti, the deputy mayor of the South Zone, Ana Ribeiro, and the secretary of economic development, innovation and simplification, Chicão Bulhões.

During the celebration, the symbolic lighting of 30 lights illuminated part of the sidewalk on Avenida Atlântica between Ruas Fernando Mendes and Rodolfo Dantas, which covers the length of the hotel.

 

– Luz Maravilha is a guarantee of safety, lighting and self-esteem. Only a program like this can make Copacabana even more charming – celebrated Bruno Bonetti, after activating the new lighting in the area.

 

In one week of the program in the neighborhood, 1.439 light points have already received new LED lamps, more than 75% of the 1.834 posts spread across Copacabana.

 

– Copacabana deserves this affection and as an international tourist spot it needed lighting to improve the entire waterfront and internal streets. This is a request from several residents’ associations and leaders. It is an achievement for the neighborhood and for the South Zone – says Ana Ribeiro, Deputy Mayor of the South Zone.

 

The arrival of LED lights in Copacabana is part of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for public lighting in Rio and aims to modernize all 450 public lighting points in the city.

A The partnership also includes the implementation of services within the Smart City concept, with the installation of 10 security cameras, 40% of which will feature facial recognition technology; 5.000 Wi-Fi points; 4.000 solid waste sensors in manholes; and 6.000 traffic sign sensors, which will improve traffic flow.
