Golden August features a special campaign to encourage breastfeeding.

To mark Golden August, a month dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, the Antônio Gonçalves da Silva Family Clinic will hold the 11th edition of the Breastfeeding Picnic on Thursday (August 13th) at 9 am. With the theme "Breastfeeding Never Goes Out of Style," the initiative will bring together pregnant women, postpartum women, mothers, babies, and family members for a morning of information, support, and health promotion.

Held for the past 11 years by the unit, the Picnic aims to strengthen breastfeeding and also encourage the recruitment of new donors and raise awareness about the importance of human milk donation. In this edition, the Mariska Ribeiro Women's Hospital participates as a partner of the Family Clinic, reinforcing the integration between Primary Care and hospital care.

The partnership between the two units also takes place through the human milk collection point at the Family Clinic. The donated milk is sent to the Human Milk Bank at the Mariska Ribeiro Women's Hospital, where it undergoes the necessary processes to contribute to the feeding of newborns who need this important food.

During the meeting, participants will have access to various health promotion activities, including guidance on breastfeeding, Shantala massage, vaccination, infant oral health, choking relief maneuvers, and stretching techniques for pregnant and postpartum women, as well as belly painting and other welcoming and integration activities.

The program will also include raffles for services and kits for babies, and a moment to honor human milk donors and the drivers responsible for transporting the donations to the Milk Bank.
