Rio City Hall delivers renovation of family clinic in Brás de Pina

The Rio City Hall delivered the renovation of the Heitor dos Prazeres Family Clinic in Brás de Pina this Wednesday (18/1). The unit received improvements to improve the quality of the service provided and offer more comfort to the population, in addition to providing better working conditions for health professionals. Two new gyms were also delivered in Maré, installed in the Jeremias Moraes da Silva and Diniz Batista dos Santos family clinics, with capacity to serve around 250 new users of the program, in addition to a new UPA in Del Castilho, the 15th emergency care unit in the municipal network.

– We are recovering the entire health system, family clinics are being renovated, as are the UPAs and hospitals. This government is working hard to rebuild everything that was destroyed in the previous administration – said Mayor Eduardo Paes.

The Heitor dos Prazeres Family Clinic benefits more than 30 people. The unit underwent extensive renovations that included painting, the purchase of furniture and equipment, and new electrical and plumbing installations. The service was provided without interrupting public service at any time.

– We really needed this renovation, this was an area that was really lacking this service and now it has improved a lot. The facilities are great, the renovation was perfect and I am getting good service. I came here because I fell at work and hurt my knee – said waiter Antonio de Arruda, 40 years old.

In two years, 198 of the 286 municipal health units have been renovated throughout the city, and a further 88 units are expected to be renovated by the end of the administration. A new family clinic was opened during this period, the Arthur Bispo do Rosário, in Taquara, in the West Zone.

– Health care is once again growing thanks to Mayor Eduardo Paes’ commitment to renovate all health care facilities. It took two intense years of reconstruction and now we are beginning to reap the benefits. The Del Castilho UPA was a long-standing demand from the population and we were able to deliver it to serve as a reference in that location. The progress of the Academia Carioca program is also very important. More than 300 students have already benefited from it and this makes a huge difference in people’s lives – said Health Secretary Daniel Soranz.

Academia Carioca activities are monitored by Physical Education professionals

In Maré, the opening of two Academia Carioca units will expand the range of services offered by the program, which has been operating since 2009 in Primary Care units (family clinics and municipal health centers) with practices that promote physical, mental and social well-being.

– We really needed this gym and it came at a great time because there are a lot of elderly people who don’t do any activities. This project will be wonderful for people who have joint and health problems – said hairdresser Eliane Freire da Silva, 54, who will be a user of the Academia Carioca at the Jeremias Moraes da Silva Family Clinic.

The gym at the Diniz Batista dos Santos Family Clinic already has 96 registered users and the gym at the Jeremias Moraes da Silva Family Clinic – with capacity to serve more than 150 people – is in the registration process. The program includes activities such as gymnastics, capoeira, dance, walking groups and recreation, always accompanied by physical education professionals.

UPA is inaugurated

The UPA Del Castilho is located at Rua Lago Verde, s/nº, in the Policlínica Rodolpho Rocco complex, in facilities that were completely renovated for the new unit. With a capacity for 4 appointments per month, the UPA has 198 professionals and an infrastructure of five medical offices (three for internal medicine and two for pediatrics), one for dentistry and one for social services, 20 beds, and x-ray and tomography equipment.

– The Academia Carioca program is a supplement to the basic family health program, very important and which helps especially in needy communities. And the renovation of the Heitor dos Prazeres Family Clinic and the inauguration of the UPA only reinforce that we are managing to recover the Rio health system, which was destroyed during the previous administration – said the deputy mayor of the North Zone, Diego Vaz.

Last Wednesday (11/1), Mayor Eduardo Paes and Secretary Daniel Soranz reopened the Rodolpho Rocco Municipal Health Center and the Torquato Neto Psychosocial Care Center in Del Castilho. The units also underwent renovations and expansion to benefit the more than 20 thousand residents of the neighborhood. Also in the North Zone, on Thursday (12/1), the Engenho de Dentro UPA was reopened, which underwent the largest structural intervention since its opening in 2010.
