City Hall reopens another UPA in the West Zone

The unit underwent structural renovations to offer more comfort and quality service - Edu Kapps/City Hall of Rio The Rio de Janeiro Municipal Health Department (SMS) reopened the UPA in Senador Camará, in the city's West Zone, this Sunday (29/1). The unit underwent structural renovations to offer more comfort and quality service to users, in addition to better working conditions for health professionals. The works were carried out without interrupting services to the population.
The improvements included replacing the floor and roof, painting, installing new air conditioning units – ensuring total climate control in the environment –, purchasing furniture and equipment and new visual communication.
– Today we are reopening the UPA Senador Camará, a unit that was abandoned under the previous administration. There were many structural problems, with sinking floors and leaking roofs. But now it is ready to provide the care that the people of Rio deserve – highlighted the municipal health secretary, Daniel Soranz.
The unit provides an average of 10 consultations per month and has a complete structure, with six medical offices (four internal medicine and two pediatric); one dental office; two risk assessment offices; and one social service office; in addition to 17 beds. X-rays and clinical exams are available to patients.
Community leader from Rio da Prata, Alessandra Oliveira, 49, celebrated the improvements to the unit:
– I have nothing to complain about, either about the UPA Senador Camará or the family clinics. It’s improving a lot. Before, there were no doctors, but now it’s all complete and brand new.
In addition to the inauguration of the Del Castilho UPA, and the renovations of the Engenho de Dentro and Senador Camará UPAs, all the other 12 UPAs in the municipal network are undergoing improvements, several of them undergoing complete renovations.
The UPA Senador Camará operates 24 hours a day, attending to urgent and emergency cases. The unit is located at Avenida de Santa Cruz, 6.486, in Senador Camará.
