Rio expands vaccination against the JN.1 variant of Covid-19 to all people aged 12 and older.

Starting this Wednesday (December 3rd), the Municipal Health Department (SMS) is expanding the target audience for the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Now, all people aged 12 and over can also be immunized with the booster dose. With this measure, the SMS expands the protection of the population of Rio de Janeiro against the JN.1 variant. In 2025, to date, 14.474 cases of the disease have been registered.

To get vaccinated, you need to go to a health unit with your identity document and, if available, your vaccination card. The vaccine is available in all 240 vaccination rooms in the municipality, including the Super Centro Carioca de Vacinação units in Botafogo, the West Zone (at ParkShoppingCampoGrande) and the North Zone (at Shopping Nova América, in Del Castilho).
