Between 2022 and 2023, the Ronaldo Gazolla Municipal Hospital in Acari, in the city's North Zone, received investments of more than R$123 million in renovations, expansion works and state-of-the-art equipment. The old surgical center underwent structural works and was transformed into the Super Centro Carioca de Cirurgia (SCCC), inaugurated in July, with capacity for 30 thousand surgical procedures per year. The project is part of the federal government's program to expand the supply of surgeries in the SUS, speeding up waiting lists in the Regulatory System (Sisreg).

Equipped with high-tech equipment, the SCCC has an excellent structure in a total area of 930m², with increased capacity to offer procedures in several specialties. Of the 13 surgical rooms, nine are equipped for video procedures. The structure also has the Surgical Specialties Center, where consultations and minor surgical procedures are performed.

With the investments received since last year, Ronaldo Gazolla is already the largest provider of surgical services in the municipal health network. Procedures such as hernioplasty, cholecystectomy, vasectomy, varicocele, hydrocele, postectomy, sclerotherapy, hemorrhoidectomy, thyroidectomy and fissure and fistula correction are offered, in addition to video surgeries such as cholecystectomy and tubal ligation.

HMRG has also expanded its Outpatient Complex, which has received new equipment and now has five specialty centers in its structure: Medical Specialties Center, Rehabilitation Center, Cardiology Diagnostic Center, Endoscopic Diagnostic Center and Imaging Diagnostic Center. Thus, the investment in new equipment, technology and infrastructure also increases the capacity for consultations and exams, without giving up the careful and humanized approach aimed at patients and their families.

The Outpatient Complex has the capacity to provide an average of 25 consultations per month, in more than 20 specialties available. Its physical area has been doubled with welcoming environments, properly equipped and signposted, and with comfortable facilities for serving users.

The Diagnostic Center comprises three specialized centers: Endoscopic, Cardiological and Imaging. All of them have cutting-edge technology and qualified professionals to offer reliable and accurate exams, which assist in the appropriate treatment for the user. The Diagnostic Center offers CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, venous and arterial Doppler exams, 24-hour MA, Holter monitoring, stress tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy and bronchoscopy. More than seven thousand imaging exams will be performed per month with the new facilities.

Technology to monitor hospitalized patients

Another HMRG delivery is the Care Monitoring Center, which uses patient parameter control technologies to provide real-time data on the clinical progress of people admitted to the unit. It is the largest care monitoring center in the country, which connects all 450 beds in the hospital.

The system monitors patients' health indicators and vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, among others. In the event of any change, alert signals are emitted from the control room and professionals are immediately called, allowing them to act quickly. This ensures agility and precision in care, reducing intervention time in the event of a patient's clinical instability.
