UPA of Patience is reopened after general renovation

The UPA in Paciência is the third emergency care unit to be fully recovered - Edu Kapps/SMS-Rio Rio de Janeiro City Hall reopened another health unit this Thursday (23/3) that underwent complete renovations to better serve the population. The UPA in Paciência is the third emergency care unit to be fully restored and returned in new condition since the beginning of the year – the previous ones were Engenho de Dentro and Senador Camará. In addition to these three, the Municipal Health Department opened a new UPA in January, the 15th in the network, in Del Castilho.
– Anyone who saw the reality of this unit before the construction was really impressed with how it is now. We thank Mayor Eduardo Paes for believing, investing and understanding that health is a priority. We at the department are happy. Today, the UPA has a complete team and adequate physical structure to provide the best care to the population. Last month alone, almost nine thousand patients were treated, so it is important that the structure is ready and has the necessary equipment to be able to provide the care that the population deserves – highlighted the municipal Secretary of Health, Rodrigo Prado.
The renovation of the UPA in Paciência included replacing the flooring, renovating the façade, renewing the air conditioning system with the installation of new air conditioning units, purchasing new furniture and equipment, among other improvements that provide greater comfort, convenience and quality of care. All the work was carried out without interrupting the unit's services, without causing any harm to users or to the 250 professionals who work shifts.
The revitalization of the unit also includes welcoming environments, which improve the user experience, from the moment they enter until they leave. Children, for example, have access to playfully decorated service areas, both in the consulting rooms and in the observation and pediatric care rooms. Adults, on the other hand, will find new signage and relevant content on health-related topics on the new information boards.
– The environment is more beautiful, comfortable and air-conditioned. Before it was hot – said cashier Juliela Pires da Silva, 28, mother of Alejandro, 9.
Bricklayer Moisés Correia Alves, 28, who took his daughter, little Lara Gabriely, 4, for pediatric care, praised the improvement in care.
– It wasn’t good before, now it is.
The UPA in Paciência has four offices (three for internal medicine and one for pediatrics), two for risk assessment and one exclusively for social services, in addition to 14 beds. It has the capacity to perform laboratory tests and x-rays. In February, there were approximately 9 consultations.
Dona Estelira Pereira da Silva, 65 years old, praised the service and structure of the UPA.
– My husband was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack and we are receiving excellent care. The doctors and nurses are attentive and competent, and the facilities are much nicer. I have nothing to complain about.
