Municipal guards and military police officers working for the Rio+Seguro program – a pioneering program by the City Hall to support public safety – seized 1 allegedly counterfeit eyeglasses that were being sold without authorization by street vendors in Copacabana this Friday (220st). The operations took place at two locations: at number 394 on Figueiredo de Magalhães Street and on Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Avenue, near number 728. The products – most of them well-known international brands – and two suspects were taken to the 12th Police Precinct (Copacabana).

Throughout the Carnival period, Rio+Seguro will maintain daily and integrated actions in Copacabana and Leme – areas with high activity of street parties – with agencies from the City Hall and the State. In total, 132 agents are employed – 80 municipal guards and 52 military police officers – and the video patrol technology of 54 cameras and two operational bases. The pre-Carnival actions to organize street party areas began on January 18th and seized more than 01 tons of products from illegal street vendors.
The city hall advises the population to use channel 1746 to report and request municipal services.
